March 2020: We went to Cresswell Crags to see the cave art. We did two tours, the Ice Age life one and the cave art one itself, then looked at the baby hyena skeleton in the museum. The cafe sells ice creams for dogs. The car parking is confusing.
We stayed in a Premier Inn 20 mins to the West the night before and the night after, which gave us a chance to do some Ice Age activities in the room after the cave visit as well.
We went on March 14-15th 2020 as the Covid pandemic was just beginning to really accelerate (schools closed five days later), so there was quite a lot of wiping everything in the room with Dettol when we arrived and departed and looking around the busy breakfast buffet wondering if eating there had been such a good idea after all. However, in the Crags themselves we felt extremely safe and relaxed - it was a lovely big open space with lots of fresh air in a steady breeze, beautiful scenery and not that many people around.
